Third chapbook announcement
I am very excited to announce that a third chapbook has been selected for publication by Hyacinth Girl Press - Susan Slaviero's A Wicked Apple will be joining our 2011 line-up. I absolutely love Susan's work and am very excited to get to publish A Wicked Apple.

Susan Slaviero's full length collection of poetry, CYBORGIA, is available from Mayapple Press.  She has two chapbooks: An Introduction to the Archetypes (Shadowbox Press, 2008) and Apocrypha (Dancing Girl Press, 2009).  Her work has appeared recently in Pank, Oyez Review, Artifice Magazine, Mythic Delirium, Goblin Fruit, and elsewhere.  She edits the online literary journal blossombones and is a cast member of The Chicago Poetry Brothel.

More exciting news is coming soon - in the mean time you have only 4 more days to send your chapbook manuscript in for consideration! Submissions close at the end of the day on March 31st.

Niina Pollari's chapbook Book Four has been selected as the second chapbook to be published by Hyacinth Girl Press. We're very excited to have the opportunity to publish Niina, having admired her work from afar in the past.

a bit about Niina -

Niina Pollari is a writer/translator in Brooklyn, NY. In 2009 the California-based feminist press Birds of Lace put out her chapbook Fabulous Essential, and in late 2011 she will have a full-length book out in Finland. She also blogs at Hideously ( and yells/plays the beep beeps in a loud band called mindtroll.

Let the record show that Niina is also a lovely dinner companion.

We hope to have Book Four out some time this summer.

In other news, work continues apace on Juliet Cook's Thirteen Designer Vaginas. There is vaginal loveliness involved. Hopefully it will be ready for publication in the next month or so!

We're open for submissions to Hyacinth Girl Press for the next 20 days - if you haven't gotten your manuscript in yet there is still time! If you have sent in a manuscript and have not heard back yet expect to hear something within the next two months. hyacinthgirlpress (at)

Huge thanks to everyone who has submitted - decisions have been difficult, and we want to publish far more manuscripts than we realistically ever could. Your patience while Margaret reads and re-reads and re-reads submissions is definitely appreciated!
